Based in the diverse province of KwaZulu Natal in South Africa we incorporate numerous Wildlife & Nature Reserves along our routes. Each of these conservation areas is protected for its diversity, uniqueness, scenery and for future generations.
Our favourites in KwaZulu Natal are:Two Natural World Heritage Sites, namely:
The Greater St Lucia Wetland Park (recently renamed iSimangaliso), including the Eastern & Western shores, Sodwana Bay, Mkhuze Game Reserve & Kosi Bay. This system consists of four lakes and a series of inter-connecting channels, which eventually drain via a sandy estuary into the Indian ocean. It is home to a large variety of birds and animals including hippos and crocs. Humpback whales can be seen off the beaches on their northerly migration to calve in Mozambique and in December and January loggerhead and leatherback turtles come onto the beaches to lay their eggs in carefully prepared nests.
Proclaimed in 1950 and extended in 1984. This is the most pristine lake system on the South African Coast. Kosi Bay is the jewel in its crown. http://www.kosibay.net/.
uKhalamba Drakensberg, which includes Giants Castle, Injasuthi, Cathedral Peak, Royal Natal and Bushman’s Neck.
Two hours from Durban and four from Gauteng, The Ukhahlamba Drakensberg Park should be at the top of every visitor’s itinerary. In this awesome mountain range you can savour the ultimate freedom of great open spaces in a world of gigantic peaks and buttresses, of towering sandstone cliffs and hidden valleys, virgin forests and crystal clear rivers.
The Park is home to black eagle, bearded vulture and herds of eland, besides the priceless legacy of many other indigenous plants and animals. The trails are generally well maintained, which along with the pristine scenery and wildlife, makes this is a hiker’s paradise.

Other areas of focus for which it is famed include its wilderness trails which originated in Umfolozi in the 1950s and its renowned Game Capture unit recently upgraded into the Centenary Capture Centre which is a bench mark for animal capture and sustainable utilization in Africa.
